Ryanair, Europe’s largest low-cost airline, will operate 42 new routes from Ukraine starting from the summer of 2020, nearly doubling the number of destinations served by the airline, RBC Ukraine has reported.

Speaking at a press conference on October 15, Ryanair commercial director David O’Brien said that in addition to the 42 new routes, the company would also launch direct flights from Kherson – close to Crimea – to Krakow. Flights will be operated twice a week from December.

Welcoming Ryanair’s announcements, Ukrainian infrastructure minister Vladislav Kirikly noted that the Ukrainian government was considering abolishing the value added tax on domestic air travel, adding that its aim is to triple the number of Ukrainians traveling by airplanes.

In 2018, Ryanair vowed to invest 1.5 billion euros in its Ukrainian operations.
