Online schooling over the past year has led to discrepancies in students’ education, as the lack of classroom interaction has created gaps in both knowledge and social skills. In this context, the programming school for children and teenagers Logiscool Romania launches the Foundation for Digital Education, through which it will contribute to the development of digital literacy and to the standardization of education in Romania.

The Foundation for Digital Education aims to provide children in rural and disadvantaged communities with universal access to resources for developing cognitive and psycho-emotional skills. Thus, the Foundation for Digital Education offers an educational package that includes both hard skills, in the form of programming courses or digital workshops, and soft skills, such as teamwork, communication or emotional intelligence, through initiatives with the Foundation’s partners.

„At Logiscool, we have taken great responsibility for this role of preparing students for the future of education and of supporting new generations on this journey towards digital literacy. The education for the future is not just about mastering a field theoretically or technically, it is more about being skilful, flexible, a team player, and being able to adapt with agility or being socially, culturally and emotionally intelligent. Thus, Logiscool’s involvement in the Foundation for Digital Education came naturally, as a continuation of our strategy to develop digital education in Romania”, says Indira Abdulvoap, General Manager Logiscool România.

Soft skills will be essential in the future and will become increasingly sought after in the labour market. In 2030, the five most important skills employers will be looking for in candidates will be empathy, leadership, critical thinking, creativity, and initiative, confirms a study by the McKinsey Global Institute.Read more aboutIarina Taban (Ajungem Mari) and Eugen Vaida (Monumentum Association) are the new Ashoka Fellows in Romania read more

Through its involvement in the Foundation for Digital Education, Logiscool aims to make it easier for students to complement their technical skill set with soft skills in order to be better prepared for the jobs of the future. In this direction, the Foundation for Digital Education has partnered with Ashoka Romania, whose mission is to build strong networks of social innovators.

This initiative also supports the Logiscool student, teacher and parent communities who will thus have access to workshops and presentations from the changemaking skills spectrum – skills that support changes in society supported by Ashoka Fellows.

„At Ashoka, our belief is that everyone is a changemaker. Thus, we see our contribution in the development of the Foundation for Digital Education as an opportunity to help people in the communities around us to access and develop their personal changemaker potential”, says Ana Murray, co-director Ashoka România.

The Foundation for Digital Education supports children and young people in their formative stage as adults and future candidates to complete their professional pathway. The partnership with Ashoka Romania aims to provide a broader perspective of what future skills mean and guide young people to become change makers, to understand the change and to produce it themselves.
