Newcastle United are considering a loan move for Manchester United’s wantaway forward Anthony Martial following an injury to striker Callum Wilson.
Wilson suffered a torn calf muscle and Achilles injury during Newcastle‘s 1-1 draw with United in December, and there are fears the forward could be out for the season.

But Liverpool striker Origi isn’t on the shortlist according to talkSPORT sources
Eddie Howe told talkSPORT on Friday: “He’s going to be out for a couple of months minimum, probably.
“I say probably because he’s going for another scan today to get the absolute detail of the problem, because there are some grey areas.”
The England international has long struggled with injury issues, and new-rich Newcastle are already busy in the January transfer window as they attempt to stay in the Premier League.
The club have signed England international Kieran Trippier for £12million from Atletico Madrid, and Martial could be next through the door according to reports.
The 26-year-old Frenchman has informed interim manager Ralf Rangnick of his desire to leave the club, having started just two league games this season.
Spanish title contenders Sevilla were earmarked as a potential destination, but Martial’s options are drying up with his club insistent that any interested side would have to cover his £200,000 per week wages.

That wouldn’t be a problem for Newcastle, who are now reportedly the richest football club in the world following their £305m takeover by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund in October.
Martial, though, would be joining a team 19th in the top flight, with just one league win all season, perhaps putting a dent in any aspirations to be in France’s 2022 World Cup squad.
Even with his minutes limited at club level, Martial still has a chance of France’s World Cup squad if he can find the right move
The forward moved to Old Trafford in 2015 from Ligue 1 side Monaco for a fee of £36m, which broke the record for the highest fee paid for a teenager.
Martial had a career best season in 2019-20, when he registered 23 goals in 48 games under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but he has since seen his opportunities dwindle with the arrivals of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho.
Martial has 30 caps for France in total, most recently playing in World Cup qualifying in September, scoring his second senior goal against Ukraine.
Origi is a specialist for the big moments, including one against Newcastle, but the Magpies need a more consistent option if they are to stay up
With the unreliable Wilson out of action, Newcastle had also been linked with interest in Liverpool striker Divock Origi, but talkSPORT sources understand Eddie Howe’s side aren’t keen.
Liverpool could also be set to offer the big-game super-sub a new contract to avoid losing him for free during the summer.
