Max Holloway will not get a third crack at Alexander Volkanovski for his UFC featherweight title just yet after injury scuppered their UFC 272 plans.
Holloway had put together a string of ultra-impressive run since his controversial loss to Volkanovski back in the summer of 2020 with two great wins in 2021.

However, just days after accepting the fight, Holloway has aggravated an old injury and has been forced to withdraw, per ESPN’s Brett Okamoto
It’s not know if Volkanovski will remain on the card at present, but the Aussie has indicated he would like to and the offers have come flooding in.
The first offer came from the retired Henry Cejudo. Although the former UFC double champion is now kept busy being Mike Tyson’s co-host on the legendary boxer’s podcast, the 34 year old would be a big name replacement.
“Triple C to the rescue. @danawhite you have my number,” Cejudo tweeted.

Cejudo was both the bantamweight and the flyweight champion before retiring in 2020. If he won the featherweight title he’d become the first three weight champion in UFC history. He also won gold at the 2008 Olympics in freestyle wrestling.
However, Ariel Helwani is reporting that the Korean Zombie, ranked fourth at featherweight, is up for stepping in and it’s also the fight Volkanovski wants.
“Alex Volkanovski wants Chan Sung Jung on March 5, per his manager Ash James. That’s who they want unequivocally.

“Zombie is in, too, I’m told. Just need to be formally offered at this point,” Helwani tweeted.
One fight that will not be taking place at UFC 272 or another other card in the next few months is Nate Diaz versus Dustin Poirier.
Both men were open about their desire to make the fight and reports circulated suggesting UFC were trying to make it for in the next six weeks. However, Diaz says the company has now performed a U-turn and the fight will not happen.
