US online retail giant Amazon has opened a new e-commerce logistics centre in Poland that will employ close to 1,000 people in the long term, Polish news agency PAP has reported.
Built in the country’s Łódź region, southwestern Poland, the logistics centre is Amazon’s first facility in the country responsible for ensuring the product flow between enterprises and other Amazon logistics centres.
The centre is the seventh facility the company has opened in Poland since it joined the Polish market in 2014.
Amazon has so far invested close to 3.3 billion euros in Poland.
“Łódź is known for providing great opportunities for jobs and customer experience, and we are grateful to the dedicated local and state officials and teams who came together to support Amazon in bringing a new fulfillment center to the region,” said Steven Harman, Amazon’s vice president for operations in continental Europe earlier this year when the investment was announced.
