More than 2.9 million Ukrainians have taken advantage of the visa-free regime between the country and the European Union since it came into effect in June 2017, the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform has reported, quoting the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

“As many as 9.2 million Ukrainian citizens have crossed the border with biometric passports, and of these, about three million have travelled without visas to the European Union,” officials said on June 11.

More than a million people crossed the Ukrainian border with Poland, while an additional 350,000 Ukrainians accessed the EU via Hungary, and more than 245,000 Ukrainians travelled through Romania. Around 226,000 Ukrainians entered the European bloc in Slovakia.

A further one million people flew to the EU, the official added.
