UFC fans have been warned to not expect to see Nate Diaz fight Dustin Poirier next as his contract situation appears no closer to a resolution.
The 36-year-old has one fight remaining on his current deal with the MMA organisation and has publicly called for lightweight title contender Poirier.

Quite literally a fight in the making, Poirier and Diaz were first scheduled to face off in 2018 at UFC 230, only for it to be scrapped.
Now, after a loss to Charles Oliveira at the end of 2021, Poirier is seeking a lucrative comeback fight and has made it publicly clear Diaz is the man he wants next.
Yet former foe Josh Thomson as explained Diaz is unlikely to get that fight next given his precarious situation, with the UFC unlikely to yield.
“The UFC does not want to allow him [Nate Diaz] to fight a big name guy for the last fight on his contract,” Thomson said on Weighing In.

“He wants to fight as soon as possible.
“We’ve talked about this a bunch of times, he wants to fight because he wants to get that last fight over with so he can either re-negotiate or just bounce out to boxing to fight somebody else, right? That’s what he wants to do.
“As soon as he comes out publicly and tells them, even privately, that he’s ready to fight, it’s on them.”
