International news broadcaster CNN has included nine cities from emerging Europe among a list of 20 with “hardly any tourists” they recommend for travel.

The nine cities are Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Prishtina (Kosovo), Wrocław (Poland), Tbilisi (Georgia), Minsk (Belarus), Yerevan (Armenia), Cluj-Napoca (Romania), Plovdiv (Bulgaria) and Debrecen (Hungary).

“The Kosovan capital isn’t usually at the top of many tourists’ destination wish lists, but that’s no reason not to visit this fascinating city,” CNN’s Joe Minihale said about Prishtina, noting that while many people associate the city and the country with war, it has undergone a major transformation.

Today, the city’s buildings offer a fascinating glimpse into a bygone era of brutalist buildings,” he writes about Minsk, adding that the Belarusian capital has become “fertile ground” for Soviet redevelopment.

“While Budapest has a deserved reputation as one of Europe’s most appealing cities, Debrecen is an excellent option for those seeking a less crowded Hungarian alternative,” CNN writes about Debrecen.
