Liverpool have been warned against giving Mohamed Salah whatever he wants when it comes to a new contract.

The ‘Egyptian King’ has been unstoppable on the pitch this season but is in the final two years of his deal with both the club and player so far not coming to terms.

It would be an understatement to say that Salah has been crucial for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool this seasongetty

With 15 goals and nine assists in 18 Premier League games, teams across the top flight have been unable to to prevent Salah from causing havoc on their defences.

He has used interest from elsewhere to try and move the apparent road block to a new contract, but former Chelsea forward Tony Cascarino – a Liverpool fan – believes the Reds should be cautious in what kind of contract they offer him.

“I think it’s a really bad idea to just say ‘here’s a blank piece of paper, write whatever you want on it, and you can have it’,” he told The Weekend Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT. “I think that’s a terrible idea.

Salah is adored by Liverpool fans who are desperate for a new contractLiverpool FC

“A player has to want to play for your football club, it’s very important that you have a player that you go ‘do you know what he loves being at our club, he gives his all and he’s a fantastic ambassador as well for the club’.

“You’re going to get lots of money whatever deal you sign aren’t you?

“If Mo Salah signs a new deal, it’s going to be ridiculous whatever way because outside football through deals of his own, you can add on onto what Liverpool can pay him.

“I just don’t go along the line of you just give them what they want.”
