The owners of electric cars in Poland will be able to park in the centre of large cities for free.

The incentive is part of new legislation on electromobility and alternative fuels. The law also establishes the lower taxation of electric vehicles and privileges in road traffic, though the strategy needs approval from the European Commission.

The news comes alongside the Electromobility Development Plan, which promotes Polish industry, science and economic growth. Electromobility Poland, a supplement to the Plan, predicted that by 2025 there will be one million electric cars on Polish roads.

Poland is already planning to have 6000 charging points for electric vehicles by the end of 2020. Last year, the government announced that it was launching a Low-Emission Transport Fund, which is set to reach 5 billion zlotys by 2027.
