With forest fires in Sweden still ablaze several EU countries have sent help to combat the flames. The largest team is from Poland, which has sent 139 firefighters and 44 vehicles, who have set up camp in the town of Sveg.

“It is our honour to be here and to support the Swedes, who are experiencing this terrible conflagration. We are very proud that our government invited us and that we can support the inhabitants of Sweden in the fight against the fire,” said one of the Polish firefighters’ senior officers, Brig. Michał Langner.
