Austrian GP free bets and tips: Max Verstappen favourite but Ferrari improvements could see Charles Leclerc or Carlos Sainz take podium

After the British GP we get into the second half of the F1 season as the Austrian Grand Prix takes centre stage this weekend in a fascinating race at the Red Bull Ring, with Ferrari raring for more success.

Red Bull, unsurprisingly, have won this the most times in recent years and are looking to extend their lead at the top of both Championship standings.

It was an afternoon to remember for Sainz as well who won his first ever Grand Prix at Silverstone last weekendGetty

The Dutch and leader in the driver’s standings is actually odds-on to win in Spielberg, Austria.

But he finished seventh last time out, at the British GP last weekend and others might appeal more on the odds with nothing ever certain when it comes to the main event on Sunday.

Sergio Perez might appeal more in terms of betting on a Red Bull driver, despite Verstappen’s constant wins here in Austria.

Perez is 12/1 to win this weekend and even at an each-way price he shouldn’t be ruled out to build on his consistent podium finishes this weekend.

Austrian Grand Prix odds

  • Max Verstappen: 4/6
  • Charles Leclerc: 11/4
  • Carlos Sainz: 10/1
  • Sergio Perez: 12/1
  • Lewis Hamilton: 14/1
  • George Russell: 14/1
  • Fernando Alonso: 100/1

Sainz Jr is also a huge price to win this weekend, his first win was last Sunday at Silverstone and became just the fourth driver to win this season.

Ferrari’s upgrades have certainly made a huge difference and they look set to make a second half season push to climb up in the standings.

Mercedes have also seen improvements getting up on the podium a lot more now, with six finishes between both Brits, Hamilton and Russell.

Austrian Grand Prix Podium finish odds

  • Verstappen 2/7
  • Leclerc 4/9
  • Perez 4/5
  • Sainz 4/5
  • Hamilton 5/2
  • Russell 11/4
  • Alonso 9/1
