Oradea becomes the 11th city in Romania where Uber is available

Today, Uber is launching Oradea, making it the 11th city in Romania where the service is being extended.  Uber is launching in the city with UberX, its most popular and accessible service, offering affordable and safe trips with just a few minutes of waiting time. Starting today and up to July 11th, all the new users in Oradea can use the discount code HELLOORADEA for 50% off on their first two UberX rides, for up to 7 lei discount per trip*.

With Oradea joining the list of Romanian cities, Uber has now reached the 3rd city in the west of the country, after Cluj and Timișoara.

In Romania, Uber is present in 11 cities: Bucharest, Timișoara, Cluj, Brașov, Iași, Constanța, Craiova, Galați, Pitești, Ploiești and now in Oradea, with plans to expand across the country in the near future. The Uber app connects passengers and drivers in over 70 countries worldwide, in more than 10.000 cities.

Ana Maria Borlovan, Country Operations Manager Uber Romania said “People are becoming more and more interested in alternative transportation and we are so glad that we can make that possible for people in Oradea, bringing them the Uber technology which connects riders and drivers and improves the safety of their trips. We are collaborating with local authorities and want to become a long term partner for them, but also for our users.”

Safety first

Riders in Oradea benefit from a series of safety features available in the Uber app, including access to driver information such as photo, car model & number and rating. Passengers are able to track their trip in the app, both before the driver’s arrival to the pick-up location and during the ride, and can share the trip with a trusted contact.

In the last year, Uber also rolled out a series of hygienic safety features and policies to help communities move easily throughout the pandemic. Drivers and riders are now required to wear masks during trips and have to confirm they understand and comply with the health & safety measures recommended by world health organizations.

In Romania, as well as in other countries, Uber is using a technology that verifies if drivers are wearing a mask by checking the selfies they take before going online. All users are reminded in the app that they should wash their hands, sanitize the vehicles and keep windows open in order to facilitate ventilation during their rides.

*The promo code is available for a maximum amount of 7 LEI, applicable for two trips. The code can be used only once and is valid from 01.07.2021 till 11.07.2021.
