Romanian handball star Cristina Neagu was voted the best player of 2017 by fans of the sport in a poll conducted on the website of the European Handball Federation (EHF).
Approximately 30,000 votes were cast in the poll, with more than half going towards CSM player Cristina Neagu. Hungarian handball player Anita Gorbicz came second, after receiving 11,168 votes.
Nine handball players were nominated by the EHF for the title of best European player in 2017, namely Cristina Neagu, Amanda Kurtovici, Katalina Bulatovic, Nora Mork, Anita Gorbicz, Meline Nocandy, Karolina Kudlacz Gloc, Ana Gros and Iveta Luzumova.
The poll was closed on Sunday. Croatian player Luka Cindrici, who plays for RK Vardar won the poll for best male player of 2017 with 6,731 votes of the total 14,645 votes cast.
