Romania’s net average wage up 1.2 pct in September 2019

Romania’s net average wage reached RON 3,082 (EUR 647) in September, rising by 1.2 percent compared to the previous month and by 14.7 percent compared to September 2018, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

Gross average wages were up 1.2 percent in September compared to August, reaching RON 5,041.

The real earning index was 110.8 percent for September 2019 compared to the same period of the previous year.

The highest net average wages were recorded for IT services (RON 7,108), while the lowest incomes were in clothing manufacturing (RON 1,762).

In September 2019, most economic activities recorded an increase in net average waves compared to August due to occasional bonuses (quarterly/annual/performance bonuses), in-kind payments or other allowances, amounts from net profit or other funds (including vouchers). The most significant increases in average net wages were recorded as follows: 21.8 percent in crude petroleum and natural gas extraction,
